January 2007 NWE Wireless Networks were the successful bidder in a project to provide
High Specification Broadband service to the Border and Coastal regions of County Donegal.
Our solution built on the success of our existing WiMAX Technology based Fixed Wireless
Access Network which has already covered 50% of the county. The network brings
together the Next Generation Network technologies and 300Mbits wireless links to provide
one of the fastest networks in the country. This is unrivalled in a rural environment
delivering services typically limited to the east coast major conurbations.
Community Network Services Ltd is a joint venture company formed
by community, local government and education organisations. They
Provided the Funding to support the delivery of high specification
broadband services for 5 Years through the support of International
Fund For Ireland, Intereg, Donegal County Council,
Udaras na Gaeltachta and Donegal Enterprise Board.
